Rowenna
06-10-2004, 10:21 PM
She was a woman just leaving her sheltered life of home - the cloaked figure in the pub, as it were. Her sleek figure was well hidden by her abundant black robes, that covered up her head, leaving only her silver eyes in view. Her silver eyes, and pale skin. Pale because of the night. She never went out in the day - even her sleeping patterns were different from most other creature in the world. Most humanoid, that is.
She shifted slightly, narrowing her clever eyes on a figure that interested her. Those alone tended to attract her attention. Those she felt had something to offer.
It would be an outstanding lie to say she had any consideration for those around her. As a human, she lusted for power - for position. If there was a heart imbedded in that chunk of ice inside, it was only the dead remains of what was long decayed and forgotten. She had nothing to lose. Not family, not money - not anything but her life.
Perhaps sheltered was the wrong word. Like vipers, her family left her when she was ready - prepared. Also, like vipers, who, young, were more dangerous than their older predecessors, Rowen was ready to loose her venom on all those who resisted.
Yes, Rowen was her name. Rowen Blackhawk, and she was not one to be trifled with.

Jackob sat alone in the corner of the inn, slowly sipping his apple cider. He was watching the woman in trhe cloak. Or at least, he thought it was a woman., He felt her gaze on him, and so returned it.

Rowen grinned devilishly as she was noticed by the man in the corner. Her eyes drew to the man behind the counter.
"A pint," she said smoothly. Really, she would have preferred something that went down a little easier, but, at the moment, taste was a triviality. Appearance was what mattered.
The man served her the drink, and she took it up in her hand, and walked to the man who connected eye contact.
She slid gracefully into the seat next to him, keeping her eyes on his.
"What are you looking at," she said to the man in anything but a harsh or angry tone - more of a clever childishness. Her trademark voice.

"A cloaked woman with silver eyes," Jackob replied. He was surpirsed that she had sat next to him, rather than opposite him.
Rowenna
06-11-2004, 12:40 AM
"Good to know you're not blind," she smiled as she sipped her ale. Well, he had a sense of humor, that is, if he considered that a joke. If it was, it wasn't too bad. Then again, it was probably the first thing that came to his mind.
"And who am I looking at?"
Karlun
06-11-2004, 12:43 AM
"Jackob Huntstar," Jackob replied, "Son of Bretorn Huntstar. Who migt you be?"
Rowenna
06-11-2004, 12:49 AM
"I thought I was a cloaked woman with silver eyes," she c*cked her head.
"I am Rowen Blackhawk, dau-"
She didn't surrender her smile.
"I once considered myself a daughter of wargs, but when they killed my uncle, I don't feel so obligated."
Rowen wasn't truly a friend of the wolves. Her uncle tried to deal with them, and she foolishly trusted him. His career didn't last awfully long.
Karlun
06-11-2004, 12:59 AM
"Wargs are evil creatures," Jackob said. "Wolves are dragons are to be more trusted than Wargs."
Rowenna
06-11-2004, 01:05 AM
"You're very opinionated, aren't you," she mused. Clearly, he didn't know her very well. Her greed could match those of the dragon he compared to wargs.
"There are a few things I could name worse than wargs."
She was referring to herself, of course. Anyone who had once trusted her learned that their mistake was most damaging.
"If I may," she leaned forward. "What are you doing here? That is... do you intend to find anything particularly fruitful on your road?"
Karlun
06-11-2004, 01:09 AM
"Not really," Jackob remarked. He sipped his cider. "What about you?" he asked. "Are you searching for anything?"
Rowenna
06-11-2004, 01:13 AM
She leaned back. So, how could she use this one? He obviously wasn't busy. Too bad, really. It was so much easier when she could just steal from someone who had already done the work.
"After a fashion. Just the age old search for profit."
By that, she meant theft and cheating.
"Perhaps you might be interested," she inquired.
Karlun
06-11-2004, 01:16 AM
"I'm not a trader," Jackob said. "I'm a wanderer. All I know is the will of my blade and the lust for blood in battle."
Rowenna
06-11-2004, 01:21 AM
"I'm sure you are," she smiled. So, she had made the right decision after all.
"But I wasn't talking about trading goods."
I was talking more along the lines of traitors, she thought to herself.
"I was referring to the kinds of goods that are acquired through battle."
She felt the blades beneath her cloaks - not the most elegant of all, but it did the trick beautifully.
"I suppose it is rather unlikely for someone like me to be of that sort, but when you associate with wargs, you have to learn things."
Karlun
06-11-2004, 01:26 AM
"Ah, loot," Jackob said. "I hate to dissapoint you, but I've never looted a town or dead body in my life."
Rowenna
06-11-2004, 01:33 AM
"Ah, I hate to disappoint you," she said clearly. "I haven't either."
That was true enough.
"How do you earn your money, Mr. Huntstar? The closest I've come to looting a body was watching my uncle do it to a troll. Granted, he broke nearly every bone in his body, which led to his ultimate demise with the wargs, but he was one. We could be two."
Karlun
06-11-2004, 01:38 AM
"I don't need money," Jackob said. "I have a gift of words. I can make people give me things for free." Then he thought about her last comment.
"What do you mean?" he asked.
Rowenna
06-11-2004, 01:49 AM
"I mean two is more than one, and two have twice a chance as one. Listen - there is a pack of wargs out there that not only have the pieces of my uncle, but everything he had, and everything many others had that they had slain."
She clenched her fists. She was a lovely actress - she had no care for her uncle - the fool - or any other killed. She cared only for the small trove her uncle hid in the midst of the wargs, giving them things in return. Meat, mainly. The fool should have realized that it was the instinct of a warg to hunt, and being kept from their prey, after a time, made their ferocity build up. Ergo, he was dead, and his nice amount of gold was with them. Rowen dared not go. Not alone. Once she had what she wanted, she could kill Jackob, and keep the spoils. That was the plan, should he accept.
((OOC: *yawn* heh, i'm goin' to bed now, so i guess i'll pick it up tomorrow. and, for the record, if you do say yes, i guarantee Rowen wouldn't kill ya. Fight, maybe, but, for once, I actually read the rules. If you say no, that's cool too. she'd probably still try to murder you:)))
Karlun
06-11-2004, 02:01 AM
((lol, I'd like to see her try ))
Jackob gently put a hand on one of her clenched fists.
"Is you wish me to help, then I will," he said, kindly.
Rowenna
06-12-2004, 12:38 AM
((OOC: Oh, trust me, she'll try, but hey, I've gotten characters pummeled on various occasions, and even had one say it was intentional. what? It's not like I'm like that RL))
He was falling for it. Well... good. More than good. It had worked - she had expected more resistance.
"Thank you," she said, losing the tension in her hands. "Would you prefer sooner or later?"
Karlun
06-12-2004, 12:53 AM
"Which ever seems best to you," Jackob said.
Rowenna
06-12-2004, 12:55 AM
"Sooner is always better," she nodded to him. "I was speaking in terms if it is an inconvenience to you."
She smiled solemnly.
"I know where to go. I can lead you."
Karlun
06-12-2004, 01:03 AM
"It is no inconvenience," Jackob said, taking his hand off hers. He picked up his Katana. "Lead away," he said, grinning.
Rowenna
06-12-2004, 01:26 AM
Rowen nodded her head, as she stood, and led him out of the bar, abandoning her ale with but a few sips missing.
Outside was a cold and frigid night, the full moon high in the sky, and a few towns people going about their late-night business. Rowen saw that Jackob, too, had exited the inn. She looked to the gate that she entered - where they both would leave. Before she took a step further, she unlaced her cloak, and pulled it off, revealing her deep red hair, cut untraditionally short for a woman, with her blue headset. Her clothes consisted of leather armor - her theft hadn't brought her things such as chain mail or anything of the likes.
Her lack of cloak also made clear her weaponry - two daggers, and a sword.
She folded her cloak into a small pile in a fraction of a second, and turned to Jackob.
"This way," she nodded her head to the gate, and led him out the gate, and into the wood.

As the two people walked out the gate, a person stepped out of the shadows. His cloak was darker then the shadows, whitch was good for his proffession. He waited a couple of minutes before walking to the gate. He didn't want them to spot him just jet.
Karlun
06-12-2004, 02:44 AM
"Where are we headed?" Jackob asked Rowen.
Rowenna
06-12-2004, 10:45 AM
"Into the wood," she said, walking off the road, and brushing aside wild branches.
"There is a clearing - a warg meeting place, I suppose you could call it. My uncles, among others, belongings are there."
She stepped over the bush, making sure Jackob didn't bail on her. There was the clearing - no sign of wargs. Yet. They weren't known to show themselves unless they had something to kill. And there would be, once in view.
Karlun
06-12-2004, 10:55 AM
"Is this it?" Jackob asked, his fingers curling around the grip of his Katana.
Rowenna
06-12-2004, 11:07 AM
"This is it," she nodded. "You ready," she asked of him.
Karlun
06-12-2004, 11:15 AM
Jackob nodded. He curled his second hand about his sword's grip and slowly drew the cold metal out of the wooden sheath.
Rowenna
06-12-2004, 11:22 AM
Rowen drew her sword - a blade she called the Xakaryas - and readied it. She heard a noise - from behind. The ugly tongue she had heard wargs use many times.
"Watch you back," Rowen warned as she spun around, seeing the red - eyed beast approach. It was not alone.
Karlun
06-12-2004, 11:32 AM
Jackob closed his eyes and consentrated. Then he whirrled round, he sword tip withing a whisker of Rowen's face. He hacked a Wargs jaw off.........
Rowenna
06-12-2004, 11:35 AM
That was close. That was really close. Not about the warg, but about Jackob nearly giving her the same treatment as the warg. She made no remark on this.
"We are at a disadvantage, here," she said, tugging him out, into the clearing, as more wolves came, behind and in front. She could not fight in such confined spaces. When she was out, she grinned.
"That's better."
A warg lunged at her, and she ran her Xakaryas through it's flesh, to the heart. She hoped she did not overestimate the man. She was determined to make it out alive.
Karlun
06-12-2004, 11:43 AM
Two wargs jumped at Jackob. He ducked and hcked into the side of one of them, sending it flying into the other, knocking it to the ground, with the body on top of it.

After slashing trought the warg that had stumbled oppon him, the Shadow Warrior went back to his hiding spot in the forest surrounding the clearing. He wached them figth of the wargs. Yes, use up all your strenght, you will be a easy match for me he thought. When he got the misson to kill Jackob he was honoured, this was the his chance to become an elite shadow warrior.

(( yeah ))
Jackob slashed down another warg, cleaving it's skull in two, then continuing the motion to stab another in the throat.
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 12:27 AM
"You're not too shabby," she remarked as another warg died by her Xakaryas. She was watching him, naturally, making sure he didn't turn. Counting the wargs he killed... she was sure she could take him, once she had her gold.
There was a dead warg, however, that was unaccounted for.
"I don't think we're alone," she told Jackob. She was careful. It was her job to be careful.
Karlun
06-13-2004, 12:34 AM
"I know," Jackob said. He killed another warg. He sensed another presence, beside the wargs and Rowen. But he could not pin point it.
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 12:36 AM
"A friend of yours," she asked as another warg lay dead at her hands. It was sarcasm, of course.
"Somehow I doubt he or she can be trusted."
Karlun
06-13-2004, 12:41 AM
"If they can be trusted, they would show themselves." Jackob delivered a flying kick to wa warg the stabbed it through it's ribs.
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 12:45 AM
The comment Jackob made was somewhat amusing. She often times skulked, and sneaked about her victims.
"I couldn't agree more," she said. There were fewer wargs now. Her treasure was that much closer. She moved in further into the circle with no trees. She remembered very clearly where it was hidden. On the other side, behind a dying tree. Perhaps this newcomer could kill Jackob for her. But then, the newcomer, too, would have to die.
Karlun
06-13-2004, 01:00 AM
Jackob twirled his blade, and lept high. His blade flashed, and two wargs no longer hand heads.
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 01:04 AM
Rowen saw few wargs worth recognition. Nothing stood in her way. Nothing. Her blade, pointed down, she ran to the other side of the clear - the dying tree. A body was atop it - or, rather, the remains of one. All that was left was bone, but she knew it to be her uncle.
She saw a glimpse, in the small burrow behind. She saw her treasure. All that was left was him.
"I couldn't have done it without you," she told Jackob, her voice with traces of arrogance. "It's been fun. But it's over now."
She steadied her sword, and attacked him....
Karlun
06-13-2004, 01:07 AM
Jackob parried the blow.
"What the devil are you doing?" he yelled.
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 01:10 AM
"Isn't it obvious," she grinned confidently. "I fear your presence has become a burden - but don't fret, I intend to rectify that."
She clanked her sword against his.
"I told you a little while ago that I never looted a dead body. What I didn't tell you was that I steal from the living, then slay them, so they don't spread around my existence."
She hit her sword to him, yet again.
"Rowen, the bringer of death, at your service!!"
Karlun
06-13-2004, 01:17 AM
"Jackob Huntstar, master of blades at yours," Jackob replied, teeth gritted. "You could have ask me to go, and I would have."
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 01:20 AM
"And spoil the fun," she narrowed her eyes with pleasure. "I think not! Besides, that pretty blade of yours would be a nice addition to my collection - trolls aren't the only beasts I slay. Man has always been my specialty."
She struck again, with prowess. Yes, his sword was lovely..
Karlun
06-13-2004, 01:26 AM
Now Jackob was angry. Really angry. His blade became a flashing web of steel about her.
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 01:29 AM
"What's wrong," she said, full of pride, blocking the blows with concentration. But not so much that she would give up on her mouth. "Did I offend you? Fear not, when your blood runs cold, I hear all pressure goes away. En guarde!"
((yeah, yeah, there's no french in middle earth. anywayz, i'm going to bed. see you in 8-10 hours ))

When Rowenna attacked Jackob the shadow warrior was a little stunned, but he soon reclaimed his senses. Hopefully she would kill him, so that he didn't have to do any work. But then again, killing people was always fun, so why should she get to do all the fun stuff. The fight out there was even, no one really got that winning edge. Should he help her? No, it was best to let this fight go. She would probably attack him after they had killed Jackob.
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 09:46 AM
It just got better and better, using these people on after another. But the idea that someone was hidden nagged at her. She continued to fight, the clashing of swords, until she kicked him off, delaying him for a moment.
"I know you're there," she spoke to the woods. "Your skulking leaves much to be desired."
She slashed at Jackob again.
Karlun
06-13-2004, 09:54 AM
Jackob lept back, but Rowen's blade tore a slash in his robes.
"Not bad," he said, mocking her.
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 10:07 AM
"Next time, I intend to cut a little closer."
She made another slashing motion at him, determined to meet her blade with flesh.
Karlun
06-13-2004, 10:18 AM
Jackob parried the blow, then twirled his sword, sending her blade flying into the ground a few meters away.
"Aww, better luck next time eh?" he said, patting her cheek. He was hoping to send her into a blind range.
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 10:30 AM
Rowen pulled her two daggers, one for each hand, and twirled them skillfully.
"Maybe."
Her daggers were only good for close range attacks, but effective for defense. She'd have to get closer to draw blood, though...
Karlun
06-13-2004, 10:36 AM
Jackob looked at the daggers and knew what they were for. He suddenly fabbed his blade forward, so it was pressed again'st Rowen's throat.
"Drop them," he said, sternly.
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 10:43 AM
Rowen wasn't giving up that easy. For a moment, she looked as though she was about to drop them, but she threw them, aiming for Jackob's legs, as she jumped back, looking for her sword.
Karlun
06-13-2004, 10:50 AM
One dagger missed, but the other struck him in the thigh. He cried out in pan and sank onto his knee.
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 10:55 AM
Rowen found her Xakaryas, and made her way back to him, twirling her sword.
"What do you know," she grinned. "I did get you."
She rose her sword, and prepared to finish him...
Karlun
06-13-2004, 11:02 AM
Jackob, smashed the flat of his blade against her leg. He heard a sickening crack, and regognised the sound of breaking bones.
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 11:06 AM
Rowen was in shock at what Jackob had done. She fell to her side, wincing at the pain. But she wasn't finished.
She rose, enough to be level with Jackob, and swung her sword to his neck, but stopped short of hacking his head off.
"You wanna try that again?!"
Karlun
06-13-2004, 11:12 AM
"What, you mean, breaking your leg?" The last three words were grunted, as Jackob wrenched the dagger out of his leg.
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 11:13 AM
"Yeah, breaking my leg," she said, her sword at his neck.
"Do you want to try that again?"
Karlun
06-13-2004, 11:24 AM
"What'd be the point?" Jackob said. "It's still an unfair fight. On you."
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 11:27 AM
"What, you were expecting me to fight fair? What's the point in that?"
She moved up her sword, and nicked him on the cheek, before moving her blade back to his neck.
"Eh?"
Karlun
06-13-2004, 11:30 AM
"If I was expecting you to fight fair, then I would not have broken your leg." He smirked. He was implying that he was a better fighter than her. And perhaps he was. Then he shashed his sword upwards, nicking her chin. Then he put his blade to her belly.
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 11:37 AM
"What do you propose we do now," she grinned, her sword at his throat, and his at her belly.
"I could kill you, you know. And I'd try if I thought at least one of us would get out of this alive."
She moved her sword closer to his neck.
"And that doesn't look very likely, does it?"
Karlun
06-13-2004, 11:39 AM
"No," Jackob said. "Tell you what. I'll fix your leg, if you let me go unharmed.
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 11:44 AM
"And spoil the fun," she grinned grimly. "I never run away from a fight, win or lose."
That was definitely true.
"Why don't you be a good soldier, and die for the greater cause? Like mine?"
Karlun
06-13-2004, 11:46 AM
"You're not the one who's running," Jackob explained. "And I'm not a soldier."
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 11:50 AM
She paused for a moment, seriously considering his offer. Like a typical human, she couldn't stand to yield to anyone else.
"I'll tell you what," she said seriously. "You fix my leg, and forget I exist, and I'll will make you leave, and allow you to live for another day. I can't have everyone know who to look out for. It's bad for business."
Karlun
06-13-2004, 11:51 AM
"I'd never harm a Lady," Jackob said
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 11:54 AM
"Maybe I'm no lady. I've been called a crook, a fiend, and have managed to give a bad name to humans for many elves - Lady isn't something I have been called. But no one can know you fought me. Understand?"
Karlun
06-13-2004, 11:59 AM
"Very good," Jackob said. "I fix your leg, and you let me go, forgetting I ever met you. Do was have an accord?"
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 12:01 PM
"We have an accord," she nodded. Well, at least there was still that stranger in the shadows. Perhaps he or she would finish Jackob off for her.
Karlun
06-13-2004, 12:04 PM
Jackob took his blade away from her belly, and she took hers from his throat.
"Let's have a look at your leg."
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 12:09 PM
"Why not," she said, watching him - just in case he pulled something. She sheathed her sword, and allowed him to look at what he had broken in the first place.
Karlun
06-13-2004, 12:10 PM
Jackob found the broken bone, and took it in both hands.
"This will hurt," he said. "An awful lot."
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 12:13 PM
"Pain is trivial," she said, determined not to wince, scream, or cry. It was unsightly for a thief - a trained apprentice of Delacroix - no one knew he existed - the key to his success.
Karlun
06-13-2004, 12:19 PM
Jackob jerked the bones back into place, then swiftly healed it back together.
"You okay now?" he asked her.
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 12:22 PM
Ow.
"Sure," she said, wanting so bad to scream. "Was I never not okay?"
She got to her feet, and drew her Xakaryas.
"Now, get out of my sight."
Karlun
06-13-2004, 12:24 PM
"Try and walk first," Jackob said. "I want to make sure I've healed you properly."
Rowenna
06-13-2004, 12:27 PM
She narrowed her eyes - he was going to go that far? After she had just resolved to get rid of him? That was unusual.
"Fine," she said, taking a few steps. Huh... he was pretty good. Philip couldn'ta done better.
"How that look?"
Karlun
06-13-2004, 12:33 PM
"Good," Jackob said, satisfied with his work. He stood up and left the clearing, dissappering into the shadows of the forest. And, thus, giving himself to the mercy of the unseen shadow warrior.
Rowenna
06-14-2004, 11:09 AM
Rowen did not hesitate before retrieving her uncles belongings. Armor... enough money to get along just fine. Armor was the important part, for she had none. She was ready.. ready to take on elves, and orcs - she wouldn't go easily.
